BECKY ABBOTT - STUDIO OWNER
Ballet, Lyrical, Tap, Clogging, Hip Hop, Show Choir, Certified USA Gymnastics Instructor
I was born and raised in Salmon, Idaho. I started dancing when I was 3 years old. When I was little there wasn’t a studio in my home town, so my mom would drive me every week to dance lessons 6 hours round trip. I am so grateful for her sacrifice and helping me to realize at a young age I wanted to be a dance teacher and give kids the opportunity to learn to dance/tumble close to home and love it as I do. Growing up I took tap, ballet, modern, clogging, jazz, and gymnastics. I was a cheerleader for 2 years in Jr. High and 4 years in High School, being team captain 4 of those years, loving the dance part of cheerleading the most. I attend Ricks College for a year, taking dance classes. I taught for 3 years at the studio I took from before following my husband to Boise. I started Becky’s Dance Co. out of my garage 20 years ago, in an effort to fulfill this life long dream of mine, of owning my own studio. I love seeing my students learn and grow and most of all have better self esteem as they leave my studio each week. That is my main goal, for them to feel better about themselves and love dance/gymnastics as I do. I love teaching dance & gymnastics & spending time with my family! I have a great family support system, my husband Brad and my 8 children.
Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Technique, Solo, Duet, Trio Instructor
I was born and raised in Washington state (Tri-Cities area) where I began dancing at the age of 3. Growing up I danced and competed in jazz, tap, and hip hop. When I entered high school I decided to continue my dance journey through my schools dance team. I was able to learn new styles and grow as a dancer in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, pom, and kick. After graduating high school, I married my highschool sweetheart and became a coach for a middle school dance team. We ended up moving to Idaho shortly after to be closer to family, and within the last couple of years we have welcomed two beautiful children into this world and I will be graduating college with a Bachelors in Elementary Education this year (2020). Dance is apart of me, it has gotten me through the worst of times and has given me the strength to keep moving forward with a positive outlook on life. I am 100% dedicated to sharing my passion with others and excited to start this new journey with you all.
I have a Minor in Dance from Brigham Young University-Idaho with emphasis on Ballroom Teaching. In my education, I took Bronze and Silver level technique courses as well as teaching courses. I have been officially certified to teach Bronze level Cha cha, American Rumba, and Bolero by the DVIDA syllabus. I have extensive experience teaching American style Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, East Coast Swing, Cha cha, Rumba, and Samba as well as some International Rumba.
Clogging has always been a big part of my life. It's such a fun way to move your body, push yourself creatively, and make some noise with your feet! I've been clogging since I was five: I have competed with Gem Cloggers, performed in solo events, and choreographed routines for younger dancers over the last eighteen years. Although I wish I knew other types of dance like ballet and contemporary, I'm so grateful my mom got me into clogging so that I can be part of the exciting studio life. I'm hoping my daughter will follow in my musical footsteps as well! I can't wait to be a part of Becky's Dance Co. and help those talented feet perform some magic.
Solo, Duet, Trio Instructor
I started dancing with Becky’s Dance Co. when I was 4 and started teaching for Becky’s Dance Co. when I was 14. I started Ballet/Lyrical with Miss Shayna when I was 16 and grew to love it! I danced with the Rocky Mountain Diamond Dancers my senior year, where we took 1st in the State. After high school I took a break from dance to serve a full time mission for my church. Upon my return from my mission I attended BYU- Idaho where I started their dance major program. I met my husband Austin and we are now married and are residing in the valley where I can continue to go to school and dance. I love to choreograph and love to teach all types of dance. I feel I express myself best through dance and I love to be on stage. I look forward to sharing my love for dance with the students at Becky’s Dance Co.
I love being able to teach gymnastics to those in my community. I have been teaching at Becky's Dance Co. for over 5 years now. I love to interact with the kids on a very active and fun level. I feel it is important for kids to learn at a young age certain skills like balance, flexibility and coordination. All of which gymnastics can do. I look forward to working with your kids!
